The Watermark at Vistawilla has truly embraced Watermark’s mission to create extraordinary opportunities for our residents to thrive during a unique program offering in recognition of Active Aging Week! As our community celebrates a week filled with various forms of dance, residents recently participated in a pole fitness class. This fitness trend is growing in popularity and provides many physical health benefits!
Our outgoing group of residents joined Nicole Johnson, a pole fitness teacher, who taught us a few fun moves and shared lots of laughs with us. Ladies attending the class dressed up in colorful feather boas as they cheered one another on. This class gave residents an opportunity to view the art of pole dancing in a different light; participants brought an open mind and vibrant energy as we embraced this new form of fitness. Following the program, resident Carol Williams went on to say, “this was so much fun, wait until I tell my sister about what I did today!” Another eager participant chimed in asking, “can we buy one of these?” It’s safe to say that this class was a big hit!
Pole fitness is a great way to build confidence and create friendships with others through bonding in a judgement-free space. This style of exercise combines endurance, flexibility, and strength training all into one workout. It is also a great cardiovascular exercise, as it activates all of your muscles and gets the blood flowing. Pole fitness also is known to reduce stress as the body releases endorphins during the exercise. We are grateful to Nicole for sharing a new way for us to stay active and have fun!
